    You are on the right track with a seldom used Portage to a busy lake.

    I'm totally handicapped without an online Algonquin map at the moment, but I think there is a portage either between Canoe Lake and Tea Lake or from some little lake just off of Canoe into Canoe Lake that is a bit north of the channel to Tea Lake.
