I answered a similar question on Reddit the other day, here’s my (long) reply

That's exactly the kind of response I was hoping for! Thank you!

Out of curiosity, what memory card do you use?

I took advantage of a Black Friday sale and picked up a GoPro Hero 7 today.

For all of you GoPro users, what accessories have you found most helpful for filming back country trips?

The nobugzone is $40 cheaper here. If that is in your wheel house.

Plus here as well. Even cheaper. Smaller and larger versions.

You will have to check shipping to see which is actually cheaper

Sorry and here too.

Thanks, Shawn. You are a much better investigator than I am. I think I'm too quick to suppose a .com address is an American company. I'm happy to now have Outdoors Oriented on my radar.

Reviving an old thread to see if anyone has new wisdom or products to share.

The only place I'm finding the Eureka NoBugZone is on Amazon (https://www.amazon.ca/Eureka-NoBugZone-Attached-Mesh-Tarp/dp/B06XPKN1FS) and I'm not sure I want to spend over $200 for a bug shelter.

This thread is making me want a Hero 7. For those who have them, where did you find the best deal?

Who is headed to the Outdoor Adventure Show this weekend? What's the main draw for you?

I'm still trying to decide whether it is worth making the trip down to the city or not. I would have liked to go on Sunday morning to hear Justin Barbour speak but I'm not free that day.

Scary stuff for sure. This is a good reminder that you need to look out for widow makers even at established campgrounds. In my mind this was mostly a backcountry concern.

I recently received an Ursack Major for my birthday that I'm looking forward to using. For those of you who use these bags, do you use another odour proof bag inside of them? If so, what bags do you use and where do you buy them?

I know MEC sells these ones, but they are the only ones on my radar:

Rob, what do you do with your food now that you've stopped hanging it?

Food is in the barrel, camp is kept clean. barrel and other items are usually tucked under a tarp too. No the barrel isn't bear proof, but the bear will make enough noise that I'll be waking up.

When you say that barrel and other items are tucked under the tarp, does other items include the clothes you wore while cooking? Or are they in the tent with you?

Have you ever had a situation yet where you needed to defend your food?

What a great report! Maybe the best one I've ever read.

I cannot wait till my boy is a little older (he's currently 5 months) and we can start doing family trips like this. He will get his first car camping experience in a couple weeks though.

I also love that you were willing to take your daughter's friend along. Good on you!

I've checked out the PCI for Booth Lake campsites and was able to get some good information on the campsites on the eastern shore of the lake, but there is nothing about the western sites.

Can anyone speak to the quality of campsites 11-18? I'd be particularly interested in campsite 11.

Also, how close together do campsites 3-7 feel when you are on them? They look pretty close on the map, but when your sitting in the site are you listening to your neighbors around the campfire?

Thanks in advance.

Though it's not telescopic, something like this might fit your needs:

I've never used one myself, but I've had my eye on it for a while. Does anyone have any impressions of the 4 or 6 piece travel rods?

What outdoor books would you put on your "Must Have" list? I'd be interested in hearing what you've enjoyed from every genre. I want to hear about your favorite fiction adventure stories, non-fiction outdoor history, bush-craft skills, nature identification books, etc.

You should have stayed with the first guess. It is indeed Misty beside the portage going up to Pandion Pond.

I'm not sure if it's cheating to give it to you for a revoked guess, but you're up!
