There is a rule somewhere I read specifically about caching and it didn't even have to do with food.

On the other hand if you base camp, your food is basically hung there for 3 days anyway, only you're around some of the time.

I'd call the park and tell them exactly where you want to hang this, and see if its allowed.

The blue circles are estimated meal stops though I'll likel do those at postages.  The green circles are my intended camp areas.

@Ian, That would be awesome, but I'm thinking of heading up probably June 24 - 28.

I've also re-evaluated my trip clockwise and I can see by portage alone, it works better.

Good to see you around.
Nice loop but curios why you are doing it counter clockwise?

Do the currents promote going clockwise?

Well, it's been too long but I'm heading up to the park again with the kayak.

Taking on the big lakes this time.  Opeongo, Hogan, Lake la Muir, Big Trout, Merchant, Happy Isle, and back out through Opeongo.

A 5 day trip covering about 96km.  By my calculations they're all 5 to 7 hour days with over 12hrs of daylight.  It should be a good one.

So far I'm planning to do a solo trip video for my YouTube channel. I'm also looking forward to reconnection with you fine folks.

Here are a few of my favorites...

Any time you see a youtube video with music you like, if that music is freely available to use, it probably has a music credit somewhere in the video or description.

On night 4 of my first solo, I stayed at one of the 4 island sites on Booth.  As i set up camp, I had the feeling i was being watched.  I felt like the Blaire Witch and her pet bear were right behind me all the time.  Then I spotted the source of the problem.  The previous user of the site had bundled lots of 4' long sticks together and stood them up like a 10-legged tripod tied at the top with some ragged-looking hay wire.  I'm sure it was just a way to keep some kindling dry for the next user, but wow did it ever creep me out.

Hello, everyone.

A couple weeks ago, I did a solo loop out of smoke lake.  Days 1 and 2 are up now at:

This trip is proving to be a real challenge - and not the kind i expected.

Now THAT'S my kind of site.  I love those open rocky shores.

I really enjoyed site 12.  I nice open site with a sloping rock waterfront.  Clear view of most of the lake.

I carved out this loop purely based on the number of nights i have available.  Does anyone have any experience in this area?  Any attractions?  Fishing?  Cautions?

Hmmm. I don't think i can commit to glueing cork to the wall, but i could glue it to a light panneling, and screw that to the wall. You've certainly got me onto the idea though.  Thanks.

Wow, I got Jeff's full wall map of Algonquin for Christmas.  Looking it over, i had 3 thoughts:

Wow this is beautiful.
I'm going to mark all the places I've been to.
How the heck am i going to hang this?!

Its huge!
Any recommendations?   I can't be the first person to come to this problem.

Yes, its one thing to be disrespectful, but this is a whole other level of negligence.  It puts people in danger when that kind of food odour is present

I would have done what you did, if i couldnt move onto another site.
