Park lake is the one you pass on 60 just before you hit the west gate coming from Huntsville.

Thanks!

Quite a ways south then it seems.

Sec Lake is ice free as of yesterday afternoon.
Guaranteed The whole East end will follow suite today.  (lower elevation)

Lake Nipissing in North Bay is Ice free at least a couple of KM out from town. Nipissing always sheds a week later than APP so thats a good sign. After today's sunshine there wont be much left. ;-)

FOAP mentioned that Park lake was ice free on the western side as well? Can anyone tell me where on the western side that is? Curious what Ralph bice is like, and what that access point will be like come this Friday.

Is anyone concerned that opening will be delayed again, past 5/10?

I am, (booked for the 10th) but the next two days are looking better for sun and temps.

Thankfully I don't have to give up any secret brook trout fishing holes.

That's fine, as long as your prediction is right I'll try and go find my own Brookie holes lol 🤞

It would be nice if they would at least open up some of the campgrounds this weekend.  The weather forecast for Saturday and Sunday is pretty fantastic right now and it sure would be nice to visit the park even if canoeing is not an option.

Depending on your experience or familiarity with it, there's lots and lots of Crown. I live adjacent to Crown adjacent to Park and last year during the late ice out I started meeting way more people than usual in the crown land lakes and trails because the park wont rent permits. Crown lands adjacent to the park are the exact same quality of nature except find your own adventure, your safety is not regulated by Ontario Parks and you have to know the land and risks associated with spring.

Actually considering this if late next week comes around and it's still a no go on APP.

Too bad, this weekend looks promising for some significant changes though

Swift Fifteen: I would like to be as optimistic as you are. How do you manage to maintain such a rosy outlook about APP opening day in the face of such overwhelming evidence to the contrary: snow, sleet, flooding and sub-zero temps. Haven't you noticed? It's fook-ing Armageddon out there!  What's your secret, sir? Is it daily yoga classes?  Zumba with mall-walking on alternate days? Or is it something much simpler like, say, shortbread cookies with your tea?   Fool that I am, in a demented moment of wishful thinking in mid-winter I chose May 5th. And I stubbornly clung to her as the ice around me grew ever thicker and more permanent. Men, as  your noble captain, it's only fair that I announce my intention to go down with the ship. Ice as far as the eye can see, and yet, the band played on...

So a may 10th put in at access 3 is looking worse and worse 😥

May 3rd is good.  I’m booked on the 10th for a 7 night solo.

I'm booked for the 10th as well. Getting a little nervous!

Despite the fact that my May 13th start date will be very hard to change at this point, I'm still feeling pretty confident. Here's the 7-day Lake of Two Rivers forecast: warm days, lots of sun, lots of rain, and mostly above zero overnights. That's serious snow and ice melting weather.

It's crazy how quickly forecasts change. This time last week we were predicted to not have many days over 10 degrees until late april!  Hoping this new forecast stays true!

I booked my first spring trip this year for may 10th, I was thinking "what are the odds of late ice out two years in a row". Not feeling too positive about it. I also feel like I'm going slightly insane constantly looking for updates.
