Does anyone have any information on the Barron River sites below the canyon? I am trying to decide between extending my stay in the canyon with an overnight on one of the river sites, or cut my stay in the canyon a little short and head out to Squirrel Rapids.

My method adds some time and a pain in the a** element to portaging, but keeps my feet dry and blister free. I wear slides in the canoe and step into the water when I get to a take out. When I have everything unloaded, I use a small quick dry towel to dry my feet and put on dry socks and hikers. At the other end of the portage the shoes and sock come off and the slides go back on.

That narrows it down. It is the Crow, however, the actual portage is still not identified. Think “lumber camp”.

Not on the Pet. This river does eventually get to the Pet though.

I actually didn't even get close enough to the white sign to read it (and zooming in on it isn't helping me now).
I realized that the trail that I was looking for was not located at the portage, got distracted by the saw, snap some pictures and then got back in the canoe to find my destination.
