Petawawa River, just east of Daisy lake on either the eastern side of the 130m or 430m portage.  (I'm thinking the 130m?)

Has anyone tried SealSkinz socks?  Apparently, they are waterproof and keep your feet dry.  I can't imagine they are overly breathable or comfortable though.

Any experiences?

I find my feet sweat so much anything close to 'waterproof' can't allow my sweat through the waterproof membrane fast enough and I end up with wet feet for a different reason.

I just wear sturdy but not waterproof hiking boots with good wool socks and accept my feet will be wet from the moment I load the canoe to the time I change into light weight camp shoes and dry socks.  I take two pair of 'traveling' socks where I alternate day over day so I'm putting mostly-dry socks on in the morning each morning.

I suspect quite a few people have watched a sunset here!

Looks high up (no hills around).
Smaller lake one day from an access point... west side...

I've not yet been, but maybe Tern Lake? (Just east of Pincher)

I think its Big Trout.

John has it.  A pleasant day spent on a campsite along the north shore of Big Trout.

never been, but North River? at the P1290?

North River it is!
The photo is the view achieved after completing the 650m carry over from Allan Lake looking east towards the 1290m.  The North River from Allan to Radiant feels very well traveled, but the section between North River Lake and Allan Lake felt beautifully remote despite being two portages from Wendigo access.

This spot is not along the Amable du Fond.

Hints:
It is a river

The photographed scene is within two or three short to mid-length portages away from two access points depending on which direction you've traveled.  I remember thinking "where do I go now?" when I reached it.

It's farther north than all guesses so far.

Rubbish hint based on nothing but feelings:
I'd consider the photographed scene part of the "middle" section of this particular river, and it somehow feels less traveled than earlier _and_ later sections of the same river!

It is not the Crow River below Lavielle, nor any part of the Crow River.

It is not Maple Creek.
This body of water is definitely labeled a river by the magnificent Maps by Jeff.
