Does anyone know what shape the road is in, with all the rain lately? I’m trying to figure out out if I can get by with my little Corolla or bring the truck instead. Thanks

Yep, the cart trail runs right behind the campsite on Wright lake.
I've used the cart path several times. It's only the last part where it joins up with the portage between Bonfield and Dickson that is tough going. When we get to that part, the bags are carried and the canoe is semi rolled/lifted the rest of the way. Bring lots of water. I think Dickson still has an algae problem.

Oh boy....I booked a trip starting tomorrow that I was 75% sure wasn't going to happen.  I guess I better get packing!
Printing the permit will be so nice.  Shame I can't bring more than four of my sherpas though.  Just kidding, no one else I know is crazy enough to camp in black fly season.
Woohoo!

Thanks Jdbonney for the link! I'd be losing $$$ if I didn't buy one. At least that's what I'm telling my wife.

I have been using something similar to this for years.  I find that it gives me just enough back support while seated in the canoe, and with a little adjustment works great while kneeling too. Great for sitting around the fire or chilling out watching the stars. It also folds flat so you can nap anywhere. I put a couple of carabiners on the handles and clip it on to my pack when portaging.

Those Bending branches paddles look very nice.  I may have to upgrade! I use a Carlisle Magic Plus Kayak Paddle. I like it but, I do get a bit of water in the boat. It is my go to paddle when soloing my Swift Algonquin 16.

It depends on what kind of transducer your unit has.  Mine has a suction cup mount like this one that you need to remember to pull up before landing the canoe or you`ll wreck the transducer.

I've been using Lacrosse hunting boots for years. They have a clasp at the top to cinch them tight.  I've got a pair of Muck boots which are pretty much the same as the Lacrosse but do not cinch tight. IMO you can't go wrong with either.

My vote is for the double blade paddle. No matter where it breaks you still have a paddle.
And make sure to eat your Wheaties on the day of the Tim to Queer portage!

I was through there three years ago and David creek was not a problem. We didn't even get our feet wet.  A couple of lifts near the lake, then clear paddling.  The portage was a nice, long walk in the woods.  We had no difficulty following the portage.  There was a bridge that was out,  crossing a creek about two thirds of the way to Rosebary.  It was fast flowing and deep when we crossed it. We had one guy jump across first and then tossed the packs across. Then slid the canoe across. And then the second guy jumped over.  We probably should of found some logs or floated across up stream although I seem to recall, that didn't seem like a good idea at the time due to the fast current.

What about Opeongo? No portages so you can bring as many coolers as you want.

Last year I took my three boys(two 5 year olds and a twelve year old) back country.  First of many I hope!  Everyone had whistles on lanyards.  We also brought walkie talkies which was nice to let them explore a bit while I got some camp chores done.
