Pretty funny that they list the Aylen Lake access point as requiring a 4x4 vehicle.   That access point is at the end of a paved road that is plowed and maintained by South Algonquin Township.   Even the unofficial access point beside our cabin would have been accessible by a two wheel drive vehicle last weekend though there were a few spots with ice and snow.

Thank you for your post yellowcanoe. Good news, much appreciated! Wanted to know the condition of North Aylen road and your comment was very helpful. Thanks again!

Cheers, Dwight

Catfish?

Lake in the pics is west of Catfish Lake. Most people could travel to this lake from Catfish in a day. Estimate it would take a speedy tripper like you somewhere around 5 hours or less to reach the lake in the pics from Catfish.

Photo of the tent pad area on the campsite where the other pics were taken. Drying out from a heavy rain storm which may have changed the appearance of the lake in the pics.

This looks like Fassett, from the North shore campsite looking back to the P1025... but the campfire area does not math my memory..

Not Fassett Lake. This lake is found in an ESE direction from Fassett Lake.

Enjoyed your latest video series. Any Lost Coin videos, or does everything that happens at Lost Coin stay at Lost Coin?

Does anyone else use a pad in their hammock??

Have used a Klymit Static V insulated Luxe pad, as it's a perfect fit between the 2 layers of Warbonnet Ridgerunner bridge hammock.

Really enjoy a down top quilt with an under quilt when using a bridge hammock. For times when hammocking is not convenient, and have to use a tent, i go with an air mattress and wide sleeping bag. As an active sleeper always changing positions never tried using elastic/straps/cordage to sleep with a quilt on an air mattress during cold weather.
