I talked to the owner (Stu) again this year at the outdoor adventure show.  Very nice guy.  He told me he has personally built over 3000 canoes in his lifetime for various companies.  He definitely has a passion for what he does and takes pride in his boats.  I told him I was still looking at getting my first canoe and he said to cone on out to his shop and take one for a paddle in the spring.  He has a pond I believe nearby that he brings them to for people to test paddle.  He said you don't by a car without a test drive why would you buy a canoe that way?  At the very least he is worth a shot for a firat time buyer at his prices.

PS the canoes he had at the show were all sold.  Beautiful boats especially the two tone

Without a doubt for me it is the firebox stove and the agawa canyon boreal 21folding bow saw.  The firebox stove is not light but it works great with wood or a trangia alcohol stove.  The boreal 21 saw is incredible.  Very light, folds down to nothing, easy to assemble, and cuts through anything with minimal effort.

I was there the second week of July.  I'm not sure about lining the first portage but it is easy to skip on the way back.  The portage to Booth is pretty straght forward.  Easier just to do it I think.  A couple of muddy spots and a bit of a hill near the end but not bad at all. Great beach sites on the east shore too.  Hope this helps and have a great time!

Thanks for the links!  I've  been checking the descriptions in the videos for links and have seen a couple that you mentioned solo_lesta.  I definitely would not be looking to make money so maybe I'll try and see.

I buy the ones from costco on a regular basis.  That makes it easy to decide what to bring.  I am definitely going to look for that variety pack though.  Thanks again everyone!

What type of cheese does everybody bing into the backcountry?  Is there one that lasts better than others?  It would be for a salami and cheese wrap.  I found real cheddar cheese sticks last year at the superstore but they became very oily and kinda slimy.  Still used them but wondered if there was something better.  Thanks

Thanks for the info.  I will look into the hidden river pads system.  Sounds interesting.  I have seen the MEC pad on the website and may end up that way if he other doesn't pan out

How many people use them?  I rented one with a canoe last year and it helped but was pretty beat up.  I am looking to buy a better quality one that is removable as I don't own my own canoe.....yet.  What do you use?

Does anyone have any pictures or experience with the site on Papukeewis lake?  Was looking to stay on Tim lake on my last night but it's booked!

Not sure if anyone has watched this guy's videos but he bakes some pretty awesome dishes in the woods with a cheap walmart cookset. His name is Kenneth  Click. Search his name on youtube. He is definitely worth a watch. ( and no its not me!)

A little bit of the story of the town of Kiosk and a couple of old photos. Looks like it was the location of the new movie The Witch

Your videos and reports always feel so calming and relaxing.  Kinda like I just finished the trip and I'm ready to go back and face the more stressful side of life. Thanks for sharing!
