Interesting, so we know this happen since May.  I thought it looked like fairly recent damage.  I agree the moving is a head scratcher.  The original spot was perfect for the site, even has nice natural stone seating.  It is a beautifully secluded spot spot on a busy lake, tucked back into forest bay. 

Btw, all the emails I sent to the park service were responded to in less than 24hrs.  And weren't form letter responses either.

Get yourself a gas refill adapter and never take half filled canisters out again.  They work great.  You can also save some money by buying large canisters to refill with.

Werner is another good option for a long adjustable kayak paddle.  I have the Kalliste Hooked adjustable 240-260 and love it.  That comes in a 260-280 as well.  They also have several other models in different blade shapes and materials in adjustable lengths.  According to Algonquin Outfitters they will also do custom lengths.  You might be able to test paddle one at Oxtongue lake.  It was either Swift or AO that let me test out a couple paddles.
