Algonquin Adventures / Diadophis punctatus, northern ring neck snake

on my way back down the pet. i stopped at the campsite on the river closest to the 300 m port. just to give my sore hip a break,,
      as i approached the fire pit , i noticed this shiny grey snake with a orange ring around the neck /head area,
   this snake was approx. 16 inches long and calmly made it's way into the fire pit stones and gonzo,
  very cool .
   that is a first for me,, it would seem that the snake was out of the normal ontario range ????

Very cool.

I used to see a snake or two every time we went into the Park, but nothing like that.

Once, at a portage landing, I thought someone had left a brand new black and yellow rope. I walked over to pick it up and it uncoiled and slithered quickly away!

Weirdly enough, I'm not bothered by snakes.

cool sighting Pimp! Fairly common in the Gonk, but nocturnal snakes so rarely seen.
