Hey Folks,

I have a couple of questions. I have a trip planned for North Tea Lake for August 8th - 16th.

1. Does anyone know how access is looking lately through Amable Du Fond River?

2. Does anyone know what fish species if any are in Yenadizze Lake? Was thinking about Bush Whacking to it one day to fish. Google is saying there are Smallies, Pike and potentially Walleye in there. However, there are not Pike and Walleye anywhere else in this part of the park so I am a bit skeptical on that. Smallies could be there as they are in North Tea. Does anyone know if the Small river to the lake is able to be paddled? Any info on this lake would be great.

i'm not familiar with that particular lake, but there are some lakes where there are pike and/or walleye that were introduced from the 1920's to the 1960's by fishermen or even the old L&F to create a sport fishery, same way that bass were introduced before they were considered an alien species in what were originally lake or brook trout waters.

Never been up that way but on the maps I'm looking at, I don't see a waterway between Yenadizze and North Tea. There is likely a creek...or a soggy, boggy area that flows from the eastern end of the small lake. I doubt it can be paddled and expect a bushwhack would be feasible...but might be easier if you avoid the boggy areas and travel on slightly more solid ground. Have fun and let us know!!

I could be completely wrong too, which is why I love to bushwhack and see what the real story is!

Have not paddled Amable Du Fond between Kawawaymog and North Tea Lake this year, but have never had any issues with this section of the river in the past.

Have "bushwacked" to Yenadizze from a campsite. Believe the campsite was PCI site number 19 but could be remembering incorrectly. Recall that the forest was very open until reaching the edge of Yenadizze Lake. Not sure where you found information related to the fish species you mentioned? Ontario's fishonline website make no mention of any fish species in this lake. Personally speculate you could possibly find bass in this lake.

North Tea from Kawawaymog is a beautiful, easily accessible area of the park. Maybe it is named access point number 1 for a reason? Hope you enjoy your trip!

Hey Davisje, it so happens that we will be going through North Tea via the Amable Du Fond at the end of the week. We did this about 8 years ago, around the same time of year, and I don't recall any issue (if there was, it would have just been a small semi-submerged beaver dam or two, but I don't think so...). I can send an update once we're back later next week to confirm. I fully agree with Dwight's take on this section!

The river from K'mog to North Tea is one of my very favourite spots in the park.
Of the 7-8 times that I've paddled it, I've only had one issue. One year in late August, long sections were clogged with water-grass. Very slow going as your canoe pushes through and your paddle tangles in clumps of it.

We just got back from paddling this route yesterday with zero issues, aside from one submerged dam which was easy enough to paddle through/over. We arrived at Access Point 1 on Saturday and the lot was absolutely jammed full. Luckily, a group left while we were unloading and having lunch so we were able to snag a spot. North Tea was very busy, but once we broke off toward Cayuga/Jeepi there was no one for 3 days. The lot had opened up a bit when we got back. There is road parking if it ever came to it...
