Good call, Sweede! I didn't realize this either. I'll definitely pick up a few meals. Thanks for the heads up!

Buy Canadian.  Altitude carries Happy Yak.  Their meals are pretty good and they’re from Montreal I think.

Thank you again Sweede and Martin! Just ordered 12 dehydrated meals from Altitude and the final total was $133. Ya can't beat that!

Also great Tip Shawn!

A heads up about Altitude... I purchased a ton of meals back in December and most of them had incorrect information (eg. calories, protein) on the Altitude website vs. the item received. I did speak to their support to let them know, but I don't know whether or not things got updated. If those numbers matter to you, it could be worth double-checking before purchasing.

I'll also plug Flat Out Feasts, a small company from Edmonton. There was never tax when I purchased last year, I'm guessing because the company is (at least, was) below the $30k/year threshold. The meals are lower in sodium, very high in protein, require very little water and cook time, and have a very simply ingredient list without all of the additives and preservatives.

too bad 3 out of the 5 have carrageenan and the bacon adds nitrates.

You are correct. I bought 12 meals (6 'flavors', 2 of each). Unfortunately 3 out of 6 flavors (so 6 out of 12 meals) have mismatching calories, protein and net weight. Less for more! Shrinkflation has struck again. Alpine Aire just made my shit list. Too bad too, I actually enjoyed a lot of their meals. Perhaps it's time to break out and learn to properly use my dehydrator.
