Algonquin Adventures / Solo loop to Burntroot in September

Here’s a write up and some pictures from a Solo Trip I did last September.
7 days from Canoe to Otterslides; North to Burntroot; and back via White Trout, McIntosh and Tom Thompson.
My longest Solo, with a bunch of new lakes for me.

I enjoyed reading your report and I especially liked that you mentioned campsite 35 on Big Trout. I've been thinking for a few years now that if I were ever to head up towards Burntroot from the south then I would aim for that site because it should have a nice view and you have confirm that. Otherwise did you like that campsite? Looks like it would have views both to the north and the south.

the site checked most of my wishlist boxes.. My feet stayed dry, so I assume, although steep, I was able to get a boat and gear off the water. Great firepit.. faces south. Some other large rocks for laying out / drying / staging cooking gear. Some shelter from wind all around, but still pretty open site.
Dont remember the tent pad situation, so likely just fine.

I haven't read Pete's trip report yet (starting to read it now) but for #35 on Big Trout, I was just camped on the island across from it last week and my friend that I was with paddled over to document #35. There are massive, long cliffs directly behind the campsite that will immediately draw your attention from faraway on the water. He said the views from the cliffs were beautiful (easy to access from the site), on top of the already great views from the campsite. He mentioned it's not the most ideal campsite for amenities / tent spots though, if you're going to be with a big group, but looking at his pictures there seems to be at least two decent tent spots among the otherwise sloping ground. Hope that helps

edit: just finished reading the trip report, it sounds like a great trip. It brought back lots of great memories from a trip I did that was almost identical to yours. To this day it's still my favourite trip I've ever done, with an almost identical route to yours. It was also mid-September, and also the longest solo I had done at that time. Thanks for sharing

That sounds like an added adventure to check out the view from the top. One good tent spot is good enough for me if I'm solo. If I could somehow convince my family to take the relatively long trip up there then one tent spot may be good enough. For the next several years I think we will still be able to squeeze all 5 of us into our 4 person tent. Thanks for the info!
