That sounds like what my BBQ does when the burner is worn out and is getting bigger holes in it.

yes,, my bbq does the flame trick,,  i blasted the pocket rocket  burner and the whole stove with high pressure air hose,,  nothing,,  the guy at wild rock outfitters in peterborough thinks he knows the problem,  i am saddling up the palomino for a trip into town to have the stove looked at,,

My next guess is a bad seal with the fuel canister that is pulling air in with the fuel. Maybe a worn o-ring that can be replaced?

Curios, how old is the stove and how did you make out with it? Fixed or time to buy a new 1

@ Rob. I’ve had the pocket rocket for 20 years, use it on every trip and no issues with it at all ( yet). It has cooked meals for 4 in the early years, currently mostly for 2, 3x a day.

That’s great. Wild rock is excellent and clearly MSR stands behind their products. Since I have the same stove, nice to know.

The threading on my pocket rocket is starting to go. I can still get it screwed on to a fuel cannister and once attached it works fine, but every time now it's a pain in the butt to screw it on successfully, and I lose fuel in the process when it's threading badly. Maybe I'll see if I can get mine replaced too...
