We use one set up in a bottle to drink from while we're paddling during the day to supplement what we carry that was produced by the gravity filter. It is convenient, but I have a hard time imagining having only a life straw...
Similar to Shaggy, I use a Lifestraw on a bottle for extended paddling days/hot weather as a supplement to a gravity filter at camp. The Lifestraw is ok, but it can't easily produce the volume I can get from a gravity filter.
