Just a reminder that some pieces of equipment are best not stored in freezing conditions.

Trace moisture in the ceramic filters of water purifiers can freeze and damage them.

Likewise, the freezing of remnant moisture in life preservers can accelerate the degradation of the flotation material.

These items are best stored in the heated indoors over winter.

Is anyone aware of other camping equipment that's better off indoors over winter?

If you have the room then most canoes are better off stored indoors to at least protect from UV light.

Anything battery operated. Head lamps flashlights or battery operated lanterns. Cold well suck the juice right out of them. Not only that, you should take the batteries right out because they could corrode the terminals while stuff sits for 5-6 months.

I'm just gone Fishin!
