Means alot coming from you, sir!
I am using a 5 year old Cannon camera that I paid $300 for back in the day at wal-mart. I only use manual mode and for the first picture I was using a 15 second shutter speed with aperture of 2.8.
Looking to buy a new camera this Christmas/boxing day, can't spend any more than $500 though. Any reccomendations?

Goes to show you that you don't need high end gear to capture high end photos!  I usually recommend folks head to a reputable local camera store (Henry's around here is good) and the people there can usually help best with recommendations based on price ranges.  New camera gear comes out so often it's so hard to keep up with the latest stuff and make useful recommendations.

What is the cause of the green light ? It's pretty eerie looking. Very cool shot

Oooooooooooh!
I clearly need to get out more at night lol. I've never seen the northern lights before.
Thanks for enlightening me Steve.

I almost missed it too! I was dozing off around my fire (solo camping) and just happened to look up to see the msot amazing thing ever. The sky over the far shore was dancing!

Saw the same light show as token, but on Jeepi Lake instead (and a couple days later)

Gotta admit though, Andrew you got better shots than me of this beautiful light show. I was standing in awe like a doofus during the most intense part of the show, only when I realized it was coming to an end did I run and grab the camera.

Great shots bud!
