Has anyone stayed on Little Raccoon recently? Which site would you recommend? We've got four guys coming through in the fall, anything we should know about?
I went through there last May24. The southern site was pretty wrecked from a tree coming across the site from what I remember. It's all on a hill with ledges for human occupation here and there. There were a couple of tent pads waaaay back from the lake and fire pit. Not a great takeout or swimming.
The northeast site was occupied but looked a lot flatter. It was tucked back from the lake a bit, but not too much. Barring some kind of horrible trash pile I would suggest the northern site. Lake itself was pretty nice to look at, only a 5 minute paddle across. If you haven't seen the "double devil's staircase" it's a hilariously steep set of switchbacks up to Whatnot lake. Worth the price of admission to ask "who decided this was the way to go?"
Let me know if you want some video of the southern site. I cut it for time from another video, but I'm sure I've got it somewhere. Going to be editing some stuff tonight anyways.
