Thoughts? Looking to do it around August long weekend. Looking for good scenery and moose (and fishing would be a bonus- I know trout can be tough mid-summer but have leadcore)
Night 1 Queer
Night 2 Lower Pine- Tim River
Night 3- Grassy Bog
Night 4- Timberwolf
Night 5- Little Misty

Looks like a fun loop!
I would (and have) skip right past Timberwolf in favor of staying at Misty or McIntosh coming from Grassy Bay, but there's nothing wrong with Timberwolf. It's just nestled right between two very pretty lakes with great sites.
I'd also either do two nights at either Timberwolf/Misty or push through to Daisy instead of staying on Little Misty. It's such a meh site with a meh view, and doesn't get you significantly closer or farther from the take out.
Good chance of moose on every step of that route. There's lakers to be found in certain lakes.
Just my 2 cents.

I'm not sure how you are traveling but i would take Timberwolf Creek between McIntosh and Timberwolf Lakes. Its a nice size creek and has a great waterfall along the portage which is cool to check out

Awesome thanks for the tips! Will make those adjustments

Settled on:
Night 1 Queer
Night 2 Lower Pine- Tim River
Night 3- Big Trout Lake
Night 4- McIntosh
Night 5- Little Misty- have a 5 hour drive home so fine with being on a meh site- love that we'll have the lake to ourselves. It is a bit more ambitious of a last day than I'd like but daisy and hambone are booked.

Ended up switching to Crotch-Booth-Booth-Booth-Farm. Going to do day trips to Tattler and Mole Lake. Makes more sense financially (will save on canoe rental and gas) and should be more productive fishing (not a bass guy but love eating pike).

If you happen to be around the Tattler Cabin on Aug 2nd, stop in and say hi

We’ll be in to the Tattler cabin a couple of days after you, please have the boys hold off on the “5 Alarm Chili” until after your departure. 😉

LOL I ended up booking Kitty Lake ranger cabin instead of crotch for the 3rd. Super pumped- haven't done a trip this long in a while. Hoping for some good pike fishing!

You’re a much braver man than me Lenny. A thrashy pike any bigger than a hammer handle or worse, a musky would have me praying on a “long-line release” or plier accessible lure set to avoid having to handle ‘em in a squirrelly 13 foot pack boat. Haha.
Wishing you tight-lines and a full belly!

Have lots of great memories staying in these cabins with my family. One of the not so great memories is the infestations of mice. I hope things have improved but we ended up hanging our food from a tree at night to keep the mice out of our rations. Keeping them out of our sleeping bags at night was another story...

We leave Saturday for a week in the park, staying at two different cabins over this stretch. Purchased four mouse traps last night... not getting my treats if I can help it!

Ya between reading about the mice and the outhouse I'm questioning my decision to rent the cabin. We'll see if it's enjoyable. If it isn't raining I'll probably sleep in my tent. I actually just switched it to Tattler. I feel like a 30 minute paddle is too short and we'd probably get bored.
