Are we thawed yet?!? 2025 Ice Out

Does anyone have Ice Out news? Or does anyone want to predict a date? Last year Ice Out was April 10th.

Re: Are we thawed yet?!? 2025 Ice Out

Judging by the MODIS and NASA Worldview satellite photos, we're looking to be about 3-3.5 weeks behind last year.  We're in that yo-yo period right now where it rains, then freezes, then rains, then freezes...

Holding my breath for a quick April thaw to let me do my May 2-5 trip, but I'm planning on another route south of Algonquin just in case they don't let me in.

I am keeping an eye on the Visitor Centre Cam  ( https://www.algonquinpark.on.ca/virtual/webcam/index.php ). Hoping to spot open water on Fork Lake. 🤞🤞

Ian - I'm also booked May 2 - 6, also exploring contingency plans further south.

AO posted a few days ago that they still had 30" of ice on Ope, signalling minimum 3-4 weeks until clear passage.  With the weather this past weekend and the current long range forecast, I am skeptical of the park hitting the May 2 target this year.

Edited to add; I'm curious about the state of access roads, trails, river systems after this weekends ice storm as well.

Hard to believe we were able to drive in to our cabin on Aylen lake, just east of Algonquin, on March 2 last year.   I don't expect that will be possible until at least the middle of April this year.  Guess I'll be making multiple trips hauling stuff in a sled when I go up later this week.  Year round residents on Aylen Lake report only some small branches fallen and no power outages from the recent storm.
