Backcountry Updates
Access Point Changes:
- The Magnetawan / Kearney Access Point office has moved to: 1734 Highway 518, Kearney Ontario
- Galeairy Lake Access Point overnight parking can be found at 41 Hay Creek Road
- Aylen Lake Access Point has moved locations: 18 Aylen Lake 45.651084°, -77.918515° From Hwy 60, 11.8 km east of the village of Madawaska, follow the Aylen Lake Road north for 7.8 km, turn left crossing over a dam and continue 0.4 km, turn left onto North Aylen Lake Road (gravel) and continue for 9km to the access point parking lot. From the parking lot you portage 4km into Wilkins Lake on the cart trail.
Campsite Closure:
-The island campsite on David Lake has permanently closed
November Backcountry Protocol:
The backcountry, both paddling and backpacking, will be open for camping at the end of October and in November. To make a backcountry reservation for a trip in November please contact the park directly, a week before the first day of your trip, at 613-637-2780 ext. 229, between 9:00am – 3:45pm. You cannot make November backcountry reservations online or by calling the reservation service.
Trail Updates
- Centennial Ridges: The Centennial Ridges Road is closed and the Centennial Ridges Trail is inaccessible from the main entrance until further notice, for maintenance at the trailhead parking lot. The trail is still accessible from the Raccoon Lake entrance, 6 km down Rock Lake Road. See an Information Guide and the Trail Guide for more details.
- Old Railway Bike Trail: The Old Railway Bike Trail is closed from Pog Lake to Rock Lake until further notice for maintenance.
- Booth’s Rock Trail: Rock Lake Road is gated about 1km from the Booth’s Rock Trailhead. Visitors can park there and walk down the road to start the hike. Please do not block the gate.
We apologize for the inconvenience. The Opeongo Road is gated at the Cameron Lake Road turn. Users are able to park at the small parking lot off the Opeongo Road at the Cameron Lake road turn, and walk beyond the gate. The Minnesing Trail and parking area will be closed to the public from November 14, 2023 to late 2024. The area is closed for a planned construction project of a new trailer dump and fill station.
The Minnessing trail will not be accessible until construction is complete, including from the Canisbay Campground access. The Minnesing Trail is used for mountain biking and backcountry skiing and camping. The trail will not be available for biking, skiing, snowshoeing, or any winter activities including winter camping until construction is complete. The warm-up cabin located at Minnesing Trail Parking lot is also closed.
Fire Ban Information Fire Ban Details: There are no fire restrictions at this time.
Boil Water Information Boil Water Details:
The following drinking water systems are posted BOIL WATER ADVISORY. Tap water must be boiled for one full minute prior to drinking, preparing food or baby formula, and brushing teeth:

Beach Posting Information Beach Posting Details: Blue-green Algae (2023-10-10) Park has received reports of small blooms of suspect blue-green algae on several interiors lakes. Users of the lake should be aware that swimming in areas of algae blooms could result in serious adverse health effects. Additionally, please ensure that pets are not swimming in any areas of concern.
