Cedar Lake - north shore campsites

Anyone familiar with the north shore campsites east of Brent campground? Im considering a summer trip to the one campsite closest to the islands at the east end, #2 on the PCI map.  Second choice would be the island campsite, #14 on PCI map.

Thaks for any input.

Re: Cedar Lake - north shore campsites

I stopped last fall at that Island campsite after a brutal solo crossing in wind and waves.  As I recall it was a sandy beach and was sheltered from the wind that day.  I thought the site was promising but I am a solo canoeist so I really don’t need much.  Funny was just thinking the other day of it, perhaps I’ll return for a night someday.  Sorry I don’t have more detailed info.

Re: Cedar Lake - north shore campsites

On one of my 8 day summer trips we ended the trip on #2. This site has a nice sandy beach, with the firepit up further on the sand, and a great view looking down Cedar but that is about it for redeeming qualities. There were 4 of us, all in hammocks, so we had a lot of trouble finding trees suitable. One person in a hammock, or one tent would be ok though. I do remember there being a bit of a swampy area on the east side shore (Beach is on West side), so it might be a bit buggy in the spring if the wind is down.
