Re: 2018 Ice Out Predictions?

Forecast is as good as we could ask for. Bunch of rain yesterday and today, some more tomorrow and then sun, wind and double digit temps staying well above zero at night.

Its in the hands of the ice gods now!

Re: 2018 Ice Out Predictions?

Well I am on LOB.
In dwight bay near dwight beach. Still ice on the lake. Approximately 4 " there is enough open water that we were able to get the 12ft tinner in and troll around ice keeps getting blown into the bay. Some of it is pretty solid most of it can be broken up with  paddle if hitting it hard enough. We leave LOB sunday but wouldnt be surprised is majority is gone by saturday. At least up in this area.

Re: 2018 Ice Out Predictions?

Just did a drive to oxtongue lake tonight. There is some open water south of the bridge, but alot of ice at the bridge. Generally not navogable yet.

Some smaller lakes North of LOB are still not navigable.

I would think by the end of the weekend alot of that will change.

Re: 2018 Ice Out Predictions?

Park lake was about half open but that was about the only open water I saw along 60 aside from current areas.  Came back through Halliburton and things are just starting to break up there. Grass lake was open but Maple still had ice. boshkung had about 1km of open water at the north end.

Might be close for the 11th.

Re: 2018 Ice Out Predictions?

Here's another webcam that you can check out from Lake of Bays, Bigwin Island.
http://www.bigwinisland.com/About_Us/Live_Webcam

And of coarse our webcam on Lake Opeongo, Algonquin Park.
http://algonquinoutfitters.com/algonquin-park/weather/
Still waiting to see movement on the ice in the bay, that's usually a clear sign it's about to break up in the bay, if the weather co-operates the rest of the lake may go in a day or two after the bay goes.
Note the image below is from Monday April 30th, not today, click the link above to see today's image and yesterday's time lapse.

Re: 2018 Ice Out Predictions?

The Park posted a clip on Twitter of the Canoe Lake access point. The shore is open and looks like it’s breaking up pretty nicely.
