It used to be the non-refundable fee, plus a refundable $50 deposit. The $50 would go towards your permits when it came time to pay, but if you cancelled, it would be refunded (depending on timeframes and what % refund you were entitled to).

I like the ability to book far in advance, just to lock in dates. It makes it easier planning time off with work, and for large groups it makes it much easier to coordinate with everyone's schedules.

But I care much less about changes to the booking timeframes as I do about the proposed flat fee per night regardless of group size that they're likely going to introduce. That will be a major deterrent for people travelling solo or with one other person.

Thanks Dave. I couldn't believe how much of a nuisance those chipmunks were. I had a really bad pair on Little Otterslide a few weeks earlier, but at least they left my barrel alone. Although to your point about tent curiosity, the pair on Little Otterslide for some reason kept scurrying back and forth under my tent... definitely no food or anything nearby, it just peaked their curiosity for some reason.

Thanks Steve! I was surprised to see a clear night after such thick overcast for most of the day... but hey I'm not complaining

My last trip report for the season - Thanksgiving Solo on Ragged Lake. I shared a video from this trip a few weeks ago, and finally had time to finish the full report with 50+ pictures and 13 campsite reports. If you're looking for something to do on this cold, snowy Sunday afternoon, feel free to give it a read and let me know what you think

Came across this deal on the InReach Mini for $329, which doesn't often go on sale (and I've never seen it cheaper than $399)

Figured we can have a thread in case other people come across great deals

That's the one. I just shared a video recently from my trip to Ragged so thought it might be an easy guess.

Thanks Peek. One more night and they might have actually gotten past the lid and into the barrel...

I'm curious what site you stayed on? There were a few mice at my site too but thankfully they weren't a nuisance to my gear. Although it was startling when I had all my lights off for astrophotography and it was basically pitch black and I'd feel a mouse crawl on me. I'm now cautious about lying down completely while stargazing because I know one of these days a mouse is going to jump onto my face lol

Thanks Dave! It's not the most 'exciting' video I've made but I'm really happy with it, I really like the footage that I got and it does a great job of representing how I felt out there during the trip.

The chipmunk was the worst I've ever had to deal with. He would literally crawl up my leg and I'd have to shake him off. And my barrel was hung quite well as you can see in the vid, but this still happened overnight...

One final getaway for the season. I wanted to go all the way down to McGarvey, but the weather wasn't looking too great so I decided to have a lazy end to the season and went into Ragged for two nights. The first night I had the lake to myself which is always nice on otherwise busy lakes.

Here's the video from the trip. I'm still working on the written trip report and will share that too once I have it finished.

If you enjoy the vid feel free to subscribe on YouTube so you can get automatically notified when I start posting videos again next year

Thanks Martin. I try and include the footage that's most representative of how the trip felt, so when I look back years later it feels like I'm there again. The hardest part of the editing process is always choosing which clips need to get cut, especially if they're great clips but just don't fit the mood.

I shared the written trip report for this the other week and now I have the video finished. If you've got 4 minutes to spare on this gloomy Sunday, give it a watch and let me know what you think
