Its an amazing beach and if you go at the right time you can get it mostly to yourself! Most people hike right on by on the trail.

So I think this is a good idea. I have looked at a few 1 way routes and discounted them either because of the cost, time or unavailability of a car shuttle.

I contemplated a spring fishing route for next year that started at Tim and ended at Opeongo. Don’t see an outfitter that offers that shuttle and even if they did based on the prices of similar shuttles it would likely be over $300.

And thanks for mentioning the inReach to inReach communication. Until I looked it up I didn’t know this was possible. Apparently I have an inReach email address that has to be used. Only works for inReach to InReach.Have had an inReach for years and never knew this. https://support-inreach.roadpost.ca/kb/articles/sending-messages-between-inreach-devices-inreach-to-inreach-messaging

All that said not sure I’m your guy for a cross park trip. Any trip across the park I would contemplate I think would have to end by heading down the Pet from Cedar to McManus. Not sure anyone would wanna be the guy parking at McManus and traveling west up the Pet to Radiant or Cedar. Would have to end/start at Achray I think.
Plus I don’t likely have the 8 consecutive nights I would want to do that trip in available any time soon.

Good luck!! making it work though. I like original solutions to problems.

Your InReach also has its own phone number technically. When I message my wife from in the bush she gets a text from a phone number which is device specific. This phone number can be texted like normal from any device and the message will appear on the InReach,  So as long as you have both inReach's unique phone numbers you'd b good to go. She has had the same phone number saved in her contacts for my InReach for over 4 years now and it has never changed.

I'm usually at around 40-50 for my main pack, then my camera bag is another 10-15. I strictly single carry with my paddles/jacket lashed in the canoe, one hand 'balancing' the canoe, one hand carrying my camera bag and my dogs leash on my packs lower waist strap which I need to control when I encounter other people on the portage if the dog isn't loose. I frequently transfer the camera bag/canoe balancing from hand to hand while walking.
When I do my extended solo trips my food bag is usually so large for the first few days I carry it in my hand ALONG with my camera bag (40lbs+) and still single carry only.

My understanding is the sites will not be signed from the water but they should be easy enough to find from in a canoe.

I am personally not a big fan of the sites on Waterclear but WhiteBirch is very nice. Mink Lake in my mind only has a couple good sites and the rest aren't worth camping on with the rail bed so close by (my opinion). If Mink has more than 2 people booked for the night you will be there I'd choose Whitebirch

I was able to get an SUV and a toyota camry down that road last year.    It was a little tricky for the camry coming across the beaver dam area then up a sandy hill.

We were told by Park staff that there is disagreement between the Park and Logging companies on who maintains the road.   It has ended in a stalemate I guess until the logging company gets to log in that area again.

I had my small car back there a few times last year as well.. was tricky but doable.
This year that same section is completely dry as the beaver dam broke but there is a very large washout. People have placed large logs and rocks in the washout which would still only be passable by a 4x4. I don't even think most AWD Suv's would have enough clearance to get passed.

There is cell service on White Trout, Big Trout, Merchant, Happy Isle, Big Crow I think is spotty, Ralph Bice has service in areas believe it or not, I recently made a phone call in the middle of KIOSK which is unheard of, I even got service on Allan Lake this spring. LTE on Head, Harness, decent service on Louisa, Phipps, Kirkwood, Bonnechere, etc. Getting to be a bit much if you ask me..
