Sad news. I don't know Chris but I'm willing go bet that if given the choice, that may have been where he would have wanted to enter Valhalla. RIP.

Stayed on the site on the eastern side of the 'narrow' section at the north of the lake. Was quite unassuming as we pulled up but inside was very nice. Great beach and swimming site. Think Canisbay sites get a lot of use during the year. Nice lake though.

Was just there last weekend and can confirm. Water levels look a bit lower in this pic though.

I stayed on that 2nd site on Raven a few years back. As we were pulling up we were like, "What is that??"

Yup, Thunder box right in the site. When it was go time my buddy had to go for a walk in the woods just to get privacy. Weirdest placement of any site I've seen.

The people who we encountered were definitely car campers and in their mind they believed it would a similar experience. Just roll up to the access at whatever hour, paddle in and voila...

It was definitely a wake up call for the couple and guaranteed they won't make the same mistakes (hopefully) again. Heck, they may have been turned off from the experience altogether.

I was lucky that my first trips were with people who knew what they were doing so I got a sense of hanging food, purifying water, footwear, packing etc... I know there are vids out there but I nothing compares to first hand experience. After that, sometimes you just have to make mistakes and learn from them.

Kiosk was busy last weekend but it was to be expected given the long weekend. We arrived early on the Thursday to get a head start on the masses and secured some primo parking.
Newbies? Oh yeah. Thurs night we had some backcountry campers on their first trip ever paddle by our camp at 10:30pm in the dark trying to get a site with no flashlight. We ended up letting them stay at our site which, if it didn't help save their lives, most certainly saved their relationship.
Something to hang our food? No, why?
Oh dear...

Just go by the Weather Network 'Bug Report' which is showing the bugs in Algonquin as green/low. Sounds like a t-shirt and shorts are all you need!

I'll never make that mistake again...

I think they want to wait a few days, post long weekend to see if there are any spikes. So far so good. We may be very close!

I was there a few years back and I believe the site on the island that's the furthest east (& north) is the one you want to aim for.

@Mulder, I think the lockdown is until June 2nd inclusive. Might want to check on that.

Hilliard site is ok but nothing to write home about. I remember having a hard time accessing water from the site.
Checked out the Delano site that trip as well. It's quite small and when I was there it had a moose skull hanging from one of the trees.
Passed through Kenneth but haven't seen the sites.
Another option from Cache is Little Island lake which has at least one decent site.
