Thanks Rob, a little misunderstanding of the title  'Catch All Discussions...' on my part.
All AP all the time on AA is ok with me!

With all the rain and thunder/lightning today, really glad I got out for a paddle yesterday!
Went to check-out Aylmer Island, in the middle of Ottawa River, west of central Ottawa.
Put-in from Shirley's Bay on a warm and breezy afternoon.

Took some time to explore as the wind blew stronger.  A couple of recentlyused fire-pits, a light beacon
and sandy beach, along with a few trees and some nice views towards both the Ontario and Quebec
shorelines.  As the sun was setting in the west, a near full-moon was rising east...

No paddle today...at mid-day when I planned to head-out, Mother Nature threw a twist
to the last summer-like day of the season.  28C and sunshine turned to black clouds, rain,
thunder and high-velocity wind in west Ottawa!  Had my Jeep roof down and got a 'boat-load'
of pine-needles to clean out now...thanks a lot MN!  (The past two weeks were stellar though!}.

Thanks DW, good to know!  Since the Rideau is clogged with the end-of-season crowd,
I decided to do a classic Ottawa paddle tomorrow!

Damn...wish I took a pic of the unusual bright red strip across maybe 10-15 trees but green both above and below {on Sept.16}.  Just before the rock barrier on Pen Lake, on way back to Rock.

Had to make do with hand-paddling a floaty around a pool in Toronto suburbia
this weekend--definitely not AP! (...but refreshingly wet in the 34C+ heat!).
When in Rome...!

So, after a week in AP backcountry, and not possible to dash back there for more during
the best consecutive weather days of Summer 2017, consoled myself with a paddle on Ottawa River.

It was a warm and sunny afternoon, at least!

Where do you guys like to get on-water when not in the Park?

Well, this is my final post in this thread, so no groans necessary!  (...yeah, it's a bit tedious seeing the
same topic on top over-and over, and my trip is no longer ''prior''!).  It took me a couple days to 'de-camp'
at home--no apologies for that!  Parsing thru over 350pics that I took during my trip and putting together a TR of it all, which I will post in a few days time.  Until then, the pic below, and another in the ''Where Is This'' section.

A gorgeous late-summer week ahead--GET OUT THERE!!!  http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/grin.png

Hi DW,

Over the past week, the reds are showing, along with some yellow.  Didn't see
much orange yet but the Autumn Blaze is starting!  Should be a banner Season!

Just back home today (at 00:30) from a (uexpected) 7-night trip.  Spent part of the
day drying out my tent, unpacking, sorting and laundry.  This afternoon, looked thru this
week's grocery flyers for current sale stuff and, inadvertantly, realised I was looking for
foodstuff that would fit in my food-pack!  I don't think I've quite fully left the Park yet!!

And the weather this week looks to be really good...!  http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/cool.png

Another possibility, from my experience this week just past:  If you already know your dates, call-in your reservation now ($11.50 fee) then, when you arrive at AP ,when the local office is closed, just leave a note
on the dashboard to show your arrival date/time and Booking Confirmation Number.  Find any open campsite and rest (in peace!) for the night.  Go into the park office in the morning to settle-up...no worries,  no hassle!  (I was advised to do just that on the day I started my trip last week and had no problem.).
Note, if you arrive just after midnight, it would be the first day of your confirmed booking.
Bonne chance.!  http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/cute.png

Trip Planning » Some Thoughts Prior... » 9/18/2017 1:49 am

My trip, originally planned from Sept.10-15 was extended to Sept.17, due to superb weather
conditions (...it actually felt like summer!) and, of course, my own desire to maximise my
time in AP!  Very happy to say, for those who may recall, Kanu Boots didn't perish
from the follies of previous adventures in the Park--he did evolve and thrive from them though!

Back home now and already thinking about the next trip, the sooner, the better!

Thanks, I'm back home now, late Sunday evening, Sept.17, after a trip which
was even awesomer than I knew it would be!  This trip was anything but routine
right from my first thought to go and, as has happened before, the five nights I
had originally booked got extended to seven nights in glorious AP!  http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/grin.png

I'll be putting together a TR in the next few days but it's been quite a long day for me
and have to hit the sack soon tonight before I drop!  Hope you all had a good week
Mother Nature finally gave a solid week of sunshine without any rain--the best week
of Summer 2017, by far!  More soon...

The day I've anticipated for so long!  After all the prep, and more tha a little 're-organisation'(!),
I'm about to head-out to AP for the first trip in six years--got butterflies knowing some of what awaits
me in the Park! I will be back in a week (assuming all goes to plan) but until then, paddle much and often!

This trip is going to be awesome and epic, I can feel it! (...it will be epic just for not repeating the follies of
previous trips!!)

I leave with this little slice in mind, of my immediate future:  I am become one of...''them''!!!...
