Shayne has it!  Great spot in the NE corner.  Fishing could be better but a solid A-class site!

Ralph Bice is the closest so far.

We're looking north from a site, 1 Portage from an access

Okay!

Here's a relatively fresh one.  Instead of trying to impress with a "nice" photo, here's one with washed out color and poor composition.

All the hints were great, just enough to narrow things down without outright giving them away.

Here's West gate to East gate as per Garmin, which is fairly accurate:

I'm hedging my bets and waiting for direct-to-cell Starlink or Kuiper capabilities.  It's already been proven over the LTE network, and every week more 2.0 satellites with cell connectivity are going up.

Figure in a year or two every cell should have access to it, which will either make the inReach obsolete or drive the pricing into the ground.

Ding ding ding!  Those are marten box traps.  You put the snare in the slots along the side and the animal crawls up into it looking for the snack at the back.

As the animals neck gets about halfway thru it springs and the trapper gets their prize.  You can google a pic, but only if you are okay with dead foxes, martens, etc.

Yeah, while maybe they were using something like Communauto to get there and back it really doesn't sound like they were that worried about the car.

There's a healthy amount of weird in the outskirts of Kearney, wouldn't be surprised if it was some kinda scam

Either way I think you handled it right
