Looks like fun JV, thanks for posting.  Will enjoy re-watching when we have a few feet of snow on the ground.

Hey John, have not been on Canisbay but Markus posted a TR a while ago.  You can find a link in the AA Trip Logs (at the bottom of the page) or just google Mark in the Park and you'll find on his site.

Great work Cody!  You even made the rain seem pleasant (almost).  I think I've been camping in more rainy days this summer than dry ones.

Great write up Drew!  I like the family posts as they provide me with some "been there done that" reflections.  I had a larger group up in Killarney over the July/August weekend and we were back a few lakes (Ruth Roy).  I found I spent a lot of time concerned.  About the attractants, about the thunder storm, about the 2 huge Neolithic snappers we were sharing our site with, about the potential slip and fall a few hours from an access point.  I was thinking back to camping trips in Kawartha Highlands when I was 18 and might fall asleep by the fire with a bag of Doritos for company without a care in the world.  I guess it is the price I pay for encouraging a large group trip or perhaps I need to chill more.

Try the Search tab on this stite and use Norway as your search term.  It'll pull up some useful stuff such as https://algonquinadventures.boardhost.com/viewtopic.php?id=2795  Also, last trip log that comes to mind of the lake was by Mark In the Park.  Mark has some good reports generally but also once you're in there you should be able to find Mark's report on Norway.  I appreciate current information is also very useful but those are for sure some good starting points.

Thanks for the update FC.  Rich/Hiker72 kind of steered me away from this idea as not likely worth it but you've added some icing to that cake : )

I expect the boil water advisories are not related to blue green algae.  Killing the algae with chlorine or by boiling etc releases toxins making the water worse.  It is certainly too bad that we are seeing growing algae blooms.

Ontario Parks Twitter post around noon on June 4:  "The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks will be extending the temporary closure of campground and backcountry campsites and roofed accommodations, like cabins, yurts and cottages, at all Ontario provincial parks up to and including June 10 at this time. "

Ian's video sums it up at the 18s mark, the portage access is right there as well.  The road is wider where he is parked and you could fit about 3 or so vehicles in there bumper to bumper while being pretty much off the road.  You maybe don't want to park the brand new BMW there but everyone has a differing tolerance for dust and rocks : )   Beyond the wider area I may feel a little less comfortable about parking on the road but there are a number of spots where you could ease off into the roadside brush a bit.  Martin is right about the easier spot to dump your gear and play innocent if discovered but access is pretty easy in both cases.

Was looking at season pass options for this summer and noticed this. Not sure if the change has already been noted in AA forums but it is interesting especially in light of all the discussion around revenue - it looks like the plan is to offer free day use through the week this summer. Also of interest to some is that Parks are going to be loaning seasonal passes from local libraries.  https://www.ontarioparks.com/seasonalpermits#:~:text=Ontario%20Parks%20will%20be%20offering,on%20Fridays%20and%20on%20weekends

The passage of note is " Ontario Parks will be offering free weekday day use visits Monday to Thursday from May 1 to September 2, 2021. Note that you will still require a permit to visit parks on Fridays and on weekends. "  Seems pretty clear but there is nothing mentioned on the Fees page for day use.  And there was nothing mentioned on Parks twitter that i noticed.

I get the local library loan program - a good idea to get some families access to the parks who might otherwise not go for financial reasons.  Not so sure about the free day use across the board especially where Parks are justifying overnight increases in an effort to be self-supporting (referencing the letter from Parks posted in previous thread).

Look forward to the report Drew!  I was also curious if you could increase stability if you happened to have a third tree close to one of the two base trees - or would that compromise system.  And perhaps just not needed.
