I think we need a way forward here; these are trying times and Where in Algonquin can be a welcome diversion.

Shayne74 posted that he guessed it was Hogan.  On that basis, I would like to suggest that Shayne74 initiates WIA 344.

John doesn't need me to defend him; he does quite well on his own.
And I admit, I don't know John's current status, but I think he is retired.
But previously he would have been on the front medical lines fighting this thing.  He knows what he is talking about.

So who is Kevin Jeffrey?  Anyone have any info? Amateur, researcher, park staff, etc.?

I think dismissing John as "the resident troll" says more about you than John.

There is no doubt that the wind on Cedar can be a problem.  But I have encountered more days when it wasn't a problem than when it was.  And if it is a problem, I think I would rather be working my way west along the north shore than crossing the lake.

I'm pretty conservative but I think Cedar to Cauchon is a pretty solid day; much more so if you're getting a late start.

To be determined.

Gee John, I don't remember the Mackey Hotel, but I do remember when you used to get your Brent permits in Stonecliffe.  But then, you just got your permit and went; none of this reservation, access quota, limits on the backcountry nonsense.  No campsites were marked on the map and many (most?) were not signed.

Maybe we should both just sit back, enjoy the moment, and wait for the OK Boomer comments.

While I agree with Martin and Shawn with respect to starting at Brent and then going upstream on the Petawawa to Catfish, you might find that first day a little challenging if you are still working out how to pack and portage efficiently.

If you start at Brent, you would be back to dealing with Algonquin Outfitters as they have a "store" there.

While I'm a fan of Algonquin Outfitters, if I were going to start at Kiosk, I would use Algonquin North ( http://www.algonquinnorth.com/ ).  They can provide you with a canoe right on the beach at Kiosk.  They also have a store / office located the intersection of hwy 17 and hwy 630 (this is where you pay)  While not as large as the AO store at Oxtongue Lake, I expect it will meet your needs.

Yep.
The first photo is of Aura Lee Lake from the eastern end (The names for Aura Lee and Laurel are believed to have been switched sometime in the past)
The second photo is of Stretch  Lake.
The traveling distance from High Lake to Aura Lee Lake is about 108km; the traveling distance from Bonnechere Lake to Aura Lee Lake is about 101km.
RCSpartan is up.

If we had chosen, we could probably have been admiring these hills the next day:

Not Devils razor.

In terms of total traveling distance by canoe (not straight line distance), the shown location is very approximately equidistant from the first two guesses.

Thanks Shawn.  It's always nice to get one, but with four guesses and a lot of clues, I don't think I can claim much in the way of bragging points.  Anyway, I'll post something a little later -- providing our power doesn't go out.
