Another great one, thank you for posting! That jump over ZigZag looks harrowing - I watched the video thinking of how quickly things could go sideways ![]()

| Backcountry » Parks Website - Calendar No Longer Available? » 7/14/2025 10:54 am |
Hey Steve, I noticed this one back in June and sent in an email. It is an improvement! But you just have to wait for it
Bottom line is they are planning to make another area clickable to bring up the calendar but not yet implemented for backcountry. Here is the relevant snip but if you would be interested in the whole email I am happy to dm it, just let me know.
"However, this feature is currently not working for backcountry campsites, which it sounds like you are attempting to access. The Arrival and Departure boxes appear, but they cannot be clicked to launch the calendar. We have flagged this to our reservations service team for their review and awareness; they are working on it currently."

This may just be my luck in an A/B test but currently when I am trying to look at lake availability there is no longer a calendar link to click once you have selected a lake. Instead you need to use the master calendar and load all the lakes to view availability after finding the one you're interested in? I am running site scout so maybe there is a loading conflict but I am not seeing any errors on the page with the Inspect window open.
Is anyone else seeing this or do I maybe need to get some sleep?
ed: tested with site scout disabled and same result

Well done Gaye! I'll keep an eye out for it when we're in the park. Visits to the HQ to buy a few things is an annual stop for us when we're in AP.

Itinerary looks good Shawn! I hope you don't get hit with too many boaters from the bay when you overnight at Topaz but having that one to yourself in the early morning should be amazing!

Hi all, I picked up a used kevlar canoe from Portage Outfitters last fall. It has some cracked ribs I need to repair. Although I understand the basics of doing this I am wondering about aesthetics. In a perfect world when I'm paddling an empty canoe I would likely prefer not to see the cracks in the ribs that I have patched. Does anyone have experience with this? Is fiberglass or kevlar going to be a better cover from a viewing standpoint (I appreciate kevlar is stronger); should I consider a double layer? Anyone other than www.rayplex.ca that I should consider for materials?

Great write up Drew! It isn't every day that bloggers get to drop "exsanguinate" - well played : ) I love that you guys took a bucket of beach toys (group shot on Cedar). Who says grown men can't be kids? Certainly not the rope swing.
