Any method that removes them AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE!!!!

I hate leeches.  Finger nails on a chalk board, HATE leeches.

That being said, if they are small enough I will do the same as you and use a nail to pry them off. I have also been known to given them a quick yank. Don't know if that is the greatest method though.  Luckily have never had one attached to me that hasn't come off with one of those two methods.

I was looking forward to heading to the park in a couple weeks, now my paranoia of swampy take-outs is up to level 10!

My Daughter and I went looking for Baden Powell last spring.  It was the Victoria Day long weekend and the water was high. However, was never able to determine the location of the small channel to Baden Powell.

It's been a long time since I have been there and all of the portages between Happy Isle and Otter Slide blend together in my memory.  However, it reminds me of Shiner Lake.

dontgroandaddy, my daughter and I will be doing the exact same route as you. Only on the 18th - 20th. I've never been into the interior this early before.  I'll admit that I have resigned myself to the fact that I will be getting cold, wet feet on the way into, and out of, Baden Powell Lake. But I am still excited.

My daughter (in Guides) would like to visit Baden-Powell Lake this summer.  We are not able to make a trip until sometime in August.  I am concerned with water levels and accessibility at that time of year.  She is eleven and has been on one canoe trip before.  She is not big on portaging, so I would think that excessive bushwacking would not be good.  Any details or suggestions would be appreciated.
