Just got back doing that exact route , I made it to Otterslide in 5.5 hours . No wind and great paddling conditions. For reference I was solo , singled carried paddling a pack boat. Hope that helps , have a great trip.
Sell and Swap » Cooke Custom Sewing Guide canoe pack for sale...Sold!! » 1/30/2021 4:48 pm |
.
Hi trippers I am looking to sell my CCS guide pack as I find it too big for solo trips . I have ordered one size down. I purchased it through Canadian outdoor equipment for $345.00 plus tax, I am looking for $250. It has only gone on 4 trips and is in new condition. it is blue/black and holds 115 L, a great comfortable pack that has a very good reputation for durability.

I have often thought of doing this too. Even doing a north south version, or corner to corner (Kiosk to Booth). If i didn't already have next summer kind of booked up I would have done it.
Instead of driving each others cars back to a meeting point at the end, maybe doing it before leaves it open so you don't have to coordinate the finish, just the start:
Meet in the middle somewhere, switch cars and then drive each others cars to the put in/take out points. That way your car is just waiting for you at the end. Keys handed off mid trip or geocached as mentioned.
that is a good idea APPaul, another option would be a spare set of keys and have the other driver lock them in your car when he or she drops it off. This would avoid a meet up if that makes it easier.

That sounds interesting, definitely on my bucket list. I am building a new home next spring so camping trips will likely take a backseat in 2020. Possibly 2021 if you don't do it next season.

Another great video Bob, like Steve I can relate to rushing around on day 1 ,I also think way too much about getting to the next lake because I have a certain campsite in mind. Any campsite in Algonquin is better then the daily grind of the city. Look forward to the next video.

I am heading out of Canoe on the 17th also, going up to Sunbeam and then Burnt Island for a short two nighter( I have never camped on either). I was hoping early season canoeing would mean less travellers through the area but it appears to be filling up fast. Happy tripping

I just got home from a 3 nighter in Killarney and was swarmed a few times by blackflies , no bites but they were annoying.

For those who bought the NRS shoe/boot:
1. How do they handle on long(ish) portages 1.5-2.0 km or so)? Do they let your feet breath?
2. I suppose most important is the fit - I have done the online boot purchase thing before and it was a disaster. First pair too small, second pair too large with nothing else in between. Overall I was out duty plus 2 x shipping for the returns.
I am in the SW Ontario/London area - is there a store that carries these? I would much prefer to try a pair on...
I found the size to be the same as the shoes/boots I already own. I was in the park May13th and it was quite warm for the time of year, the boots were a little warm but were great for stepping in the cold water. I did several portages with no issues longest one was 1300 meters double carry . They are also good in the canoe as they are flexible. I guess if you are prone to ankle injuries they may not be for you as they lack ankle support. I live in Hamilton and bought mine online so not sure if there is a retail outlet near you.
