i have had good success trolling mosquito flies for specs in both Papineau Labelle and Lake Superior park from a canoe.
You can tie a sinking leader onto a spinning rod and if necessary add a few split shots.  because the fly is small the spec tend to take the fly deep so very few hits are misses.  don't use this method if you are planning to release because they usually take the fly too deep to easily dislodge.

with high spring water levels, does anyone know if lake travers has good sites in May?  I am thinking about a 2 or 3 day trip in late may to lake travers.  Also i know it is popular for walleye at that time of the year.  Is there heavy demand then for the available sites?  I have fished there in July but water levels are much lower then.

SEC lake has decent size pike.  I have caught several in the 3 to 4 1lb range.  I only fished Wet once but did not catch any pike  ( it does have very good bass fishing)

i agree with the comment about bass being an invasive species.  Personally i think they could open the season year round like the ministry did north of highway season. 95% of the time I catch and release bass anyway -DZ
