Can anyone advise what the closing date for Trout in Algonquin is this year? Can't seem to find it in the summary. Thanks.

I have the exact same boot, Biom 1.7. They are incredible, warm in winter, cool in summer, incredibly light and supple and completely waterproof. I tell people they feel like wearing slippers. I've been using Ecco's for 10 years now and this is my third pair of Bioms. I like the high cut for getting in and out of my canoe especially in spring. I suggest you buy the Ecco care kit and use it before and after each trip. It includes a bottle of foam cleaner, moisturizing lotion and waterproofing spray.

I'm heading to AP for a few days of fishing in the north end of the park. Just wondering if anyone knows what the water temperatures are like. Have the Trout started moving deeper yet?

I'm thinking about visiting Loonskin Lake this spring. Has anyone been there? I would be going in from Barron Lake. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Just looking at Google Maps and noticed that Rowan Lake, on the east side, is peppered with drill holes. One can also clearly see snowmobile tracks. I thought this was illegal?

Has anyone taken the portage/trail from the north end of St Andrews Lake to the water slide? I want to camp on St Andrews, paddle to the portage at the north end and walk to the water slide. How feasible would this plan be?

Sail in Ottawa sells them with the stinger hook. Just bought a few yesterday after seeing Moonman's images.A little pricey at $7.99 each.

This is very interesting stuff Moonman. I fly fished in BC extensively out of a belly boat. Had great success. Never really had a lot of luck in AP though. How deep do you figure your fly would be with a full sink line trolled behind a canoe? I would also like to see your streamers if you're willing.

I normally would not use a cart, however, since the Grand Lake to Green Leaf 5070 portage is on a hydro access road, I thought a cart could make things easier. All depends on how good the road is I guess. Thanks for your replies.

I'm planning on going into Greenleaf Lake this spring. Has anyone used a canoe cart on the powerline 5070m portage from Grand Lake? If so, is it feasible with a cart and has anyone used the MEC Wheeelez Tuff Tire Cart?

I collect Chanterelles every summer in the Ottawa, Gatineau Hills area. Quite a delicacy in traditional German cuisine. They are known as Pfefferling in German because of their peppery flavor (pfeffer meaning pepper).  I see many of them in AP also, I just don't pick them there, not sure if it is allowed or not. I usually start seeing them around mid July ending around mid August. They are quite abundant in the Grand Lake Achray area.

Does anyone know how to prevent a Thermarest mattress from sliding all over the place in a hammock?
