Suggestions for an early season 2-3 day fishing venture in the north

Hello everyone. I really want to make this the year I finally take my brother-in-law, an avid fisherman from BC, into the Park around the end of April/beginning of May for speck fishing. We'll only have a few days over a weekend and he has knee issues and very limited, if any, canoeing experience. So there can't be much portaging involved and I'd prefer to avoid the big lakes and potentially strong wind conditions--particularly with the cold water. I truly love the northern part of the Park the most and it's my choice for almost every trip. About the best idea I've been able to generate so far is either North River Lake or maybe North Depot. Does anyone have any better suggestions? FYI we're coming from Ottawa so though I do like the Western side access points, it's a bit much driving for this length of trip. Thanks in advance.
