Drones not allowed ...

Looks like park management is addressing the issue of drones 'head-on' ...

"Aircraft (including UAVs and Drones) .. Private aircraft use in Algonquin Park is not permitted. No person shall land an aircraft in Algonquin Park. Just like other private aircraft, unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) and drones are not permitted to land in Algonquin Park. Additionally, aircraft are not permitted to drop supplies into Algonquin Park."

Re: Drones not allowed ...

The statement does specify that private operators may not use drones however I don't see how this can possibly be applied to all non-governmental interests... the benefits to forestry, law enforcement and conservation are just too great to ignore moving forward and my guess is there will be exceptions granted by the minister or superintendent for some forms of private drone use.

Here's a very brief vid on one business using drones for conservation and law enforcement, primarily in the tropics where species loss is greatest but other applications are mentioned (poachers using logging roads come to mind)... there's much more of this out there for anybody interested.

Re: Drones not allowed ...

Thumbs up for this rule! I can only imagine the extreme disappointment I would feel if I made the effort to go into the backcountry to get away from it all only to have some goof across the lake send his drone over to my site.
