Re: How do you cook your fish in the backcountry?

Smaller fish in perfer to fillet boneless and pan fry with salt and pepper, larger such as laker I like to bake wrapped in tinfoil on coals.

Re: How do you cook your fish in the backcountry?

I don't want to change the topic at hand but I have a question.  What do you at night with the nice cooking gear including cast iron pan with nice fry food smell.  Do you hang it with your food or do you hide it at a different location away from camp and from hanging food.

What is the proper way to put away cooking gear at night.

PS.  Maybe there is a better location for this question.

Thanks
Sebastien

Hi Sebastien,

I don't use cast iron in the interior...too heavy to portage.  But I would just hang it with the food bag at night - although I would take care to make sure the clean side is against the bag or I would put it in a small garbage bag just to keep the black soot off of the other gear.
