Smokey and Rainy Days On Sunday Lake

Just got back from four nights on the island on Sunday Lake.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday morning and Friday morning were wet .. and forest fire smoke was pretty constant.

But any getaway in Algonquin Park is good!

Back side of the island and the forest fire smoke haze provided some unique subject matter and "atmosphere".

Grass, trees, blossoms, water and wind.

Close-up of blossoms.

Another "moody" shot.

Distant tree through the tele zoom.

Far south end of the west bay ... forest fire smoke made for some serious "atmosphere".

Put the same shot through the PS filters to reduce "atmospheric haze".

The rain let up Wednesday afternoon and a paddle up the incoming creek provided a change in landscape.

This was the "turn-around" spot where the creek narrowed down considerably.

Returning to the island, here's it's backside.

Back at the island ... a classic "canoe and paddles" shot with a hazy setting sun.

Late Wednesday arrivals on the lake, camped across from the island. The gent did some serious fishing for the splake.

This gull stood on guard off shore, while a pesky red squirrel ran constant camp patrol, loons frequented the bay and a beaver cruised around the island at sunset.

Despite the hazy sky, I was able to get this shot over the lake on Thursday night.

Great photos. We stayed on the island site in May this year and really enjoyed it. Easy to get to, but feels like you're much deeper in the park than you actually are.
