Gear Addiction

This article from Rapid Media really resonated with me:

I like new gear and I love light weight gear. If I can shave off a a couple hundred grams for a few extra dollars, I will. One of my favourite things about gear is that it helps relieve some of my lust for being outdoors when I'm stuck travelling for work or need to stay home on the weekend to instal a garage door opener. Even when I'm outside, I place high value on gear that works. A wetted out rain jacket can make me miserable while a new gravity water filter makes me marvel.

This article is a nice reminder that I shouldn't let gear overshadow the more important parts of adventure. I know I need that reminder every now and again so I thought I'd share.

Re: Gear Addiction

I'm guilty of this as well.  I research every gear purchase to the max and usually end up spending top dollar (I do believe it buying quality gear) but sometimes it's just about getting out!

Re: Gear Addiction

Funny! "Ultralight Nirvana" I'll have to adopt that term. Will it ever be attained? I did just shave 15 oz off my solo double blade weight.. One step closer...
