It’s too bad that those dang trees are wrecking the view. On one hand, I can understand why the forest is allowed to do what it does and grow. On the other hand, cut a few trees at each of the lookouts and suddenly we have a grand vista.

I read the kesselheim book wilderness paddling on your recommendation. Definitely a worthwhile read.

Arrived yesterday. I set it up in the backyard today. It’s a great piece of equipment. Can’t speak to its durability yet but the quality seems very good. I also should comment that the ordering process was easy. I received an email confirmation I placed the order. A second email when the order was prepared and a third when it shipped. All within about 18 hours or so of ordering. I ordered Tuesday and received it Friday.

Hello all

I just got back from a trip, before I left I found out I had to be back a day earlier than I had reserved for. When I arrived the parks staff told me that I couldn’t get a refund for the last night despite knowing in advance I wouldn’t be staying. I also asked if I could change from one lake to another on one of the nights, and despite the lake I wanted to stay on being available they told me I couldn’t change my itinerary because I had a reservation.

I know that in the past I have received refunds when I left early from a trip, and changed my reserved itinerary when having the permit issued. I explained that and was told that the reservation system rules and policies have changed.

I checked the website and the refund process is basically a form I mail in begging them to refund my single night of camp fees. I may send it in but I’d like to know if there is any chance of getting my money back or if I’m wasting my time and postage.

Thanks

Awesome. I did that trip many years ago before my kids came into my life. It’s really quite nice. Some fantastic campsites and some not so fantastic. Hopefully more of the fantastic variety for you guys.

Glad to see you’re still taking time to enjoy the outdoors this summer I know how hard you guys are working on Unlostify but recharging the batteries allows you to burn them down again. Seems like that’s my life in a nutshell.

Hello all

Has anyone paddled from head lake to cache via head creek and the Madawaska recently?

Wondering if I should take the portage or if the creek has enough water to paddle it.

Thanks

I’ve spent time paddling around a lake looking for the last site more than once when the lake was supposedly half booked. I usually like to wake early and paddle late with a rest in the middle so I’ve been frustrated to find squatters more than once. Im well prepared and happy to sleep on a portage if necessary but I can definitely see the benefit of booking sites directly. In my younger days I wouldn’t have cared as if just keep paddling until I found a spot. Now with 2 kids along for the trip I can’t just keep going as they will mutiny. Also with 2 kids I can’t get as far from the car as I used to in a day which means it’s always more busy.

Banger Bob. Legendary. 2 items on the menu. Bangers (with 3 or 4 toppings) and Coca Cola..in a can. Absolutely legendary. He passed away only a few years ago.
